A very nice fan-made version of Super Mario Brothers, one of the best downloadable on the internet, in my opinion. 20 levels of nice looking backgrounds and challenging enemies. The sounds are ripped directly from original Mario games, so there's no problem here. It runs really nicely, and there aren't any annoying glitches that ruin the otherwise perfect aspects of other games. A slight downfall is that there is no save/load feature or cheat option whatsoever, meaning that every time you get a Game Over you start from scratch. It is rather bothersome playing the first 6 or so levels over and over and over before you get to the challenging levels, only to have to start all over again. Another thing I don't understan is that the Fire Flower/Normal aspects of Mario were implemented, but no mushrooms. That means that you either have firepower, or one hit away from death. It gets frustrating when you lose your firepower because of something unstobppable, like being chased by a Bullet Bill straight into a waiting Pirahna Plant, and then getting killed by something practically impossible to avoid (A shell shooting back and forth in a small space, several flying turtles, etc.). Passing the game really is rewarding though, and worth it to me. I enjoyed the work put into the credits. smile.gif All in all, SPSMB2 is a very good SP Game and if you are new to the idea of SPGaming, be sure to check this one out. Stanster Oct 24 2004, 04:39 AM Game: South Park Super Mario Brothers 2 Creator: Joe Dixon (aka Polygon) Genre: Platformer Description: A near clone of Super Mario Brothers 1 with different levels Rating: 71% Review: South Park Super Mario Brothers 2, obviously, is the sequel to South Park Super Mario Brothers 1. Most of the Mario features are emulated - when I spoke to Polygon during this game's development, he had said that he was planning on adding mushrooms that make Kyle grow, but I guess this feature was never implemented. Graphicswise, this game is nothing special - there are very few original graphics in the entire game, even though Polygon proved himself capable with graphics. Likewise, the sounds and music are all the standard Mario fare - though a MIDI version of "Chocolate Salty Balls" pops up in one of the flashier levels. Gameplay wise, the game is good, but nothing that hasn't been done. Still, this is a good game worth downloading - but beware the lack of any passwords or save/load features. You'll need about an hour to yourself to play this one.
